Anthony Fournier is a Swiss violinist and conductor born in Sion, Valais.

He is also a composer and arranger for various projects and creations such as “The WIDE Show”.

Anthony will be the assistant conductor of the “Opéra National du Rhin” for the 2023-2024 season.

Anthony started playing the violin at the age of nine in Sion and embarked on high professional studies in Switzerland and abroad. Throughout his career, Anthony has been on the podium of several world-renowned competitions.

Guided by his audacity and his desire for modernity, he performs both on different international classical stages, but also as a rock violinist since 2015.

In 2020, affected by a focal dystonia, he started studying conducting in Italy.

Navigating today between conducting, composing, creating big musical shows and teaching, the artist wishes to make the public discover the music he shares with passion thanks to his multiple facets as a musician.

Anthony Fournier received the Cultural Prize of the City of Sion in 2017.

The conductor 

Anthony studied conducting in Italy and Switzerland receiving guidance from conductors such as Paavo Järvi, Gianandrea Noseda, Johannes Schlaefli, David Reiland, Guiseppe Montesano, Donato Renzetti.

He has collaborated with various orchestras such as the Tonhalle Orchestra of Zürich, the Orchestre National de Metz, the Lausanne Sinfonietta, the Basel Kammerorchester, the Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Szolnok Symphony Orchestra, the St-Petersburg Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Savaria Symphony Orchestra…

The violinist

Anthony has performed at the world’s greatest venues, as a soloist, chamber musician and concertmaster.

He has worked as concertmaster and conductor under Gianandrea Noseda, Charles Dutoit, Marris Jansons, Valery Gergiev, Zubin Metha… Between 2015 and 2018, he was leader of several orchestras : the Verbier Festival Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, the Wiener Philharmoniker and the Harmonia Symphony Orchestra, Les Musiciens Du Louvre…

He has performed as a soloist with the Camerata Armin Jordan (Orchestre de la Suisse Romande), the Winterthur Musikkollegium, the Janaçek Philharmonic Orchestra…

In chamber music, Anthony has performed in festivals such as the Plovdiv International Chamber Music Festival, the Week-end Musical de Pully, the Verbier Festival, the Jardins Musicaux de Cernier, the Festival de Bellerive with musicians such as Kari Kriikku, Istvan Vardai, Kim Dae-Jin, Alexandra Conunova, Hariolf Schlichtig, Wen-Sinn Yang…

The violinist has also created his own rock band, WIDE, with whom he still performs regularly.

He plays on an 18th century violin generously lent by a patron.
