Swiss conductor Anthony Fournier is distinguished by his demanding and sensitive approach to the orchestral repertoire. Passionate about musical transmission and sharing, he strives to create a dialogue between performers and audiences in each of his interpretations. Forced to end his career as a violinist due to focal dystonia, he then turned to orchestral conducting.
Trained in conducting in Italy and Switzerland (Master of Arts in Conducting, HEMU Lausanne), he has benefited from the guidance of Paavo Järvi, Gianandrea Noseda, Johannes Schlaefli, David Reiland, and Giuseppe Montesano… His career has led him to collaborate with numerous orchestras, including the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Orchestre National de Metz, Sinfonietta de Lausanne, Les Musiciens du Louvre, Basel Kammerorchester, Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse, and Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, Szolnok Symphony Orchestra, St. Petersburg Youth Symphony Orchestra, Savaria Symphony Orchestra…
Anthony Fournier explores both the symphonic and operatic repertoire. He was notably assistant conductor at the Opéra National du Rhin, where he conducted Guercoeur, a rediscovered masterpiece, allowing him to deepen his operatic work and collaborate with renowned artists.
His talent was recognized in 2024 when he won the Italian Conducting Competition “Alceo Galliera”. He was also awarded the Cultural Prize of the City of Sion in 2017.
Alongside his conducting career, he is deeply involved in musical creation, exploring new forms of expression as a composer and arranger. He is the creator of “The WIDE Show”, a project that expands the concert experience and pushes the boundaries of traditional formats.
Committed to education and innovation, he actively participates in educational projects, masterclasses, and participatory concerts, convinced that music must remain a space for exchange and discovery. His dedication and versatility make him an artist in constant evolution, devoted to delivering authentic and inspired interpretations.
He is the principal conductor and artistic director of Orchestre Symphonique Genevois starting April 2026, and held the same position since 2023 with Orchestre Quipasseparlà.
